Robert Hruzek’s “What I Learned From …” project for December asks us to list our favorite posts for 2009. As he puts it -
So, your assignment for this month’s WILF, should you decide to accept it, is to compose a post listing your favorite posts (or your most popular, or whatever criteria you want; it’s your choice this month!) from your own blog posted during 2009. Simple, right? Hey, that’s what I thought!
Please join in! Last year Robert’s project summary was a veritable treasure trove of top notch blog posts on just about every topic you could think of.
Here are my selections. The common theme among the posts I’ve selected is good conversation, courtesy of the Word Sell blog community.
Blogging Relationships Are Gold for the Soul. My way of showing thanks for the many wonderful blogging relationships that have developed over the last few years.
Writing for Business Blogs – Lessons Learned. A useful summary of writing tips along with a lively discussion.
Business Blog as Base of Operations for Online Marketing. Marketing theory in plain English. I think it makes sense.
A PC Guy Goes to the Apple Store. Marketing observations from one of my rare shopping excursions.
Against Happiness Book Review. Why a gloomy view is OK. Probably the best conversation ever on my blog, with many thanks to Jan Geronimo for sharing this post so generously with his marvelous community.
What 5 Little Things Make You Happy? When you go off topic, you learn a lot about yourself and your community. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know people a little better … please add your favorites now should the spirit move you!
Drop Solution Selling from Your Marketing Vocabulary. My best Clare Lynch impersonation drew many clever comments and insightful conversation.

As a new visitor to your blog I can tell you what post caught my attention first (from title alone) was: “Against Happiness Book Review.” Mostly because the title was fun and I think “happiness” is over ratted.
The lighter topics aside (or maybe in addition), I can see there’s a great deal I can learn by reading the archive here!
Rachel
Hi Rachel, Welcome to Word Sell and thank you for visiting and commenting. You and the author share a suspicion of happiness, and reading the book certainly gave me a lot to think about.
Brad,
Well chosen.
I can confidently say that I enjoyed all of these (I’m pretty sure I read them all – bar the one on ‘solution selling,’ which I read just now).
I particularly loved your ‘Against Happiness’ book review.’ If my recollection is correct, that review (along with the book itself) certainly challenged some conventional assumptions.
Andrew, Nice of you to say all that – your contributions to this blog have been terrific and greatly, greatly appreciated!
You’ve lots of great posts, Brad. It’s very hard to choose. My favorites aside from Against Happiness Book Review -
- 33 Foolproof Headline Strategies
- How to Make SEO Friendly Editorial Calendar for Your Blog
- that post about Doh and Duh – love it. I checked – this one’s not in 2009. But just the same I love it.
Hi Brad, great selection indeed! While I was going through my own posts I actually remembered the fun we’ve had with the Blogging and Relationships project! Thanks again for the wonderful post you have written for it
Brad, these were all great posts, and are some of my favorites. You do a wonderful job of inspiring and encouraging conversation, so in my view all of your posts are conversational!
Thanks, Alina and Karen … You’ve both made BIG contributions here, which I’m very thankful for!
Hi Robert, Looks like another great collection of posts – thank you so much for hosting all of these projects throughout the year. I can’t tell you how many fabulous bloggers I’ve gotten to know as a result. Happy New Year!

Thanks, Robert, for making us work so hard to come up with our favorite post from each month. The folks who participated last year who didn’t this year probably remember how hard it was to do. But it was a worthwhile exercise to remember what we’ve done during the year, and this year’s list is manageable enough to actually read the entries.
Thanks for a wonderful year at MZM and WILF and wishes for a fantastic 2010.

Hi Robert, great roundup! Next year, I resolve to complete my entries on time and finally be in sync with the calendar! It has been an awesome year of WILF and Musings. I am so thankful I was here to be part of it. Wishing you much more in 2010. Happy New Year Robert!

Robert, as always… thanks for giving me something to blog about… now I wonder if I should go through almost 10 years’ worth of posts to pick out the best from a decade of blogging? Ack! That would take too long. Happy New Year everyone!

@Karen – Ah, those pesky resolutions. Hey, I’m glad you were such a great and active part of the Zone, too! A big ol’ tip o’ the hat, my friend!

@Meryl – Best of a decade? Wow, that might make a great book, actually. But I agree it’d be a chore. I’ve only got 3-1/2 years and the prospect terrifies me!

Robert, thanks again for this yearly WILF! It’s a great way to remember posts we’ve loved and to discover new ones. Speaking of resolutions, I will try to take part in more WILFs next year! I sure hope I won’t go back to being inspired, having a great idea for a post, and then missing the deadline
Hugs and a happy, happy new year,
Alina

I missed it? Damn….
Thought this was going to happen in January, like last year’s Blogapalooza.

@Mike (Matches) – No, I decided not to repeat Blogapalooza this year. Next WILF is in February, though, so start gearin’ up now!
