A Hat Tip to Blogs I Read in Silence

The Silent ManImage by !borghetti via FlickrThe other day I thanked my silent readers, people who come to Word Sell but don’t comment. I swiped the idea from Joanna Young.

Pay It Forward
Now I’d like to be original and tip my hat to blogs I read religiously but seldom if ever comment on.

Maybe you’d like to share your favorites as well.

My Favorite No Comment Blogs
Matthew Stibbe - Insightful and amusing commentary on the art and science of copywriting.

John Moore - Brand Autopsy was one of the first blogs I remember reading and is still one of my favorites.

Jennifer’s Goodness Graciousness gets my day off on the right foot. I love her simple, deeply spiritual inspiration.

Jackie Cameron - Jackie writes about careers in a way that never fails to challenge me.

Kenneth W. Davis - his writing tips are short and very, very sweet.

Deb’s Punctuality Rules gets into the minutiae of grammar and usage I find absolutely fascinating.

Sparkplug CEO - Wendy Piersall and company cover all aspects of entrepreneurship in detail and with exuberance.

Ulla Hennig - I’ve actually started commenting on Ulla’s blog, but I’ve enjoyed her photographs and thoughtful reflections for quite a while.

  3. Thanks, Brad! No pressure here, or anything…

  4. What a novel idea, Brad — and a wonderful way to show your appreciation to the bloggers who might not otherwise know you’re reading (and loving) their work!

  5. Brad,
thanks a lot for the link love! I appreciate so much having you as a reader - silent or otherwise. I am a silent reader of your blog as well - most of the time, as I am not in the marketing business. But some of your posts I feeling able to comment on and then I do.
And the idea of presenting blogs followed but seldom commented upon is great!

  6. Hi Deb, Nothing you can’t handle! Jeanne, I hope other bloggers pick up on the idea. It’d be interesting to know what other bloggers read silently. Ulla, it’s an honor to have you as a reader, knowing you’re not even the marketing business. I think your comments here add a lot when you make them.

  8. Hi Brad - this is a great idea. I must admit - I read many blogs without commenting. Sparkplugging is one I also read a lot but don’t often comment.

  10. Thank you so much Brad.I realise that I read a lot of blogs in silence too. The balance for me is always commenting where comments would be valuable over commenting generally ( especially when I come to a post late and everyone else has covered what I would have).

  11. […] I wrote a while back about my appreciation of silent readers… not least as I read many blogs silently myself.  Brad Shorr at Word Sell picked up and developed this idea, including a hat tip to the blogs he reads in silence. […]
