Happy Birthday, Bernie Taupin

Bernie Taupin writes lyrics for Elton John. They cranked out an astounding number of unforgettable pop tunes during the ’70’s and ’80’s that still sound great today. Taupin’s lyrics tended to be a little surreal and idiosyncratic, but boy, there were times when he could touch your heart. Take Your Song, Elton John’s breakthrough hit in the U.S.

I remember this song! Perfect day for a little song and dance. Thanks for the fun reminder of times gone by. This remains a beautiful song. Great lyrics really do survive the test of time.

Mother Earth, Tiny Dancer, in fact the whole Madman album, was probably my favorite too. Goodbye Yellow Brick Road was right up there, too. Karen, are you an Elton John fan? What are your EJ favorites?
