zapdata.com is Dun and Bradstreet’s online database, and it’s a low cost, easy to use source of targeted leads for sales prospecting. Your list selection criteria look like this –

Locations can be as broad as the U.S. or as narrow as a zip code. Industries are defined by SIC, and you can drill down as deep into specific subcategories as you want. Demographics gives you the ability to limit your search to a specific range of revenue or number of employees for a specific location or the entire company — a very handy feature! Specialty Data allows you to pull in information from other information providers, and Job Function allows you to select lists of prospects based on their specific job titles within industries.
Once you’ve built your list, you buy it in five formats. Here’s a list I built for commercial photographers in metro Chicago, with 5-250 employees –

You can preview your list before purchasing, or purchase a sample portion of the list for testing. I’ve used zapdata.com frequently and always found the quality of data to be excellent, especially for the price.

Hi Brad,
This is great information that I will be putting to use. I had heard of zapdata but had not used them. The pricing is much more reasonable than the company I used. Thank you so much for sharing step by step info. It is appreciated!

Karen, hope it works out for you. I’m not sure it’s the least expensive option, but as you know there are plenty that charge a TON.
