A BIG thank you to my friend Karen Swim at Words for Hire, who ran a series of posts by me last week, Selling for Non-Sellers. I developed the material originally as the first chapter of a book I wanted to write to help people with non-sales personalities who need to sell — entrepreneurs, for instance. Did I give up on the project too soon? Is it a topic worth expanding on?
Karen’s blog is one of my favorites. Besides being a gifted writer, Karen REALLY knows how to start conversations.

My friend and management consultant Bill Welter just released a great new workbook - MindLab: A Place to Think. It’ subtitle, “Thinking is a skill and skills only improve with practice” says it all. The workbook is only 70 pages, brief but stimulating content, and thought exercises that would help any business person see the world more clearly. Bill used several of my business cartoons in the book, so what more can you ask for?

Client Salazar Packaging just launched their blog, Inside Sustainable Packaging. Working with them on this project has opened my eyes about environmental issues that really do affect us all, even though stuff like corrugated boxes aren’t top-of-mind issues for most of us. Any suggestions for future topics?

Brad, you should write the book!
I second that! In fact, it looks like I’m gonna need it real soon - my boss just informed me I’m now responsible for selling my services. Not that it’s unexpected (part of the job, after all). But now I’m going to be MORE responsible for becoming billable.
Help me Obi-brad-kenobi!
Hi Brad, I’ve really enjoyed your posts published at Karen’s and I definitely think to topic is worth exploring even further. You can either continue the series here, or go back to the original book idea.
Karen, Bob, Alina, Thank you all for the encouragement. I’d do it in a heartbeat if I could find a publisher, but one way or another I’ll continue. Bob, you know I’ll help you however I can. Call or write any time.
Brad, if you are still interested in finding partners we focus on online marketing (seo/ppc which you have covered as well as email marketing and social media marketing - facebook, twitter, youtube, etc.) We also have a design and development team. I am amazed at how well your blog attracts readers! You really are an expert writer, something I wish I could attain for myself - maybe some day~
Eric, I obviously do a lot of work in your area, and I appreciate your interest. My colleagues and I are always looking for new resources, and though service categories overlap, everyone seems to have their own niche. Let’s keep talking! My blog has been around for a couple years plus, and it has been a real labor of love. If you put in the time and just keep writing, I think you will get results and improve your writing skills without even knowing it. (Your writing is already good, I think - it’s nice to see an SEO blog an average person can understand. That’s not easy to pull off.)
