My trip to Arizona – when I unplugged myself from social media for a week – was lots of fun, but the fun didn’t stop once I got home. Fearful that my blog community would have evaporated like water in the Sonoran Desert, I found that much the opposite had occurred.

Alltop is a fantastic news aggregating site with categories for everything under the sun (can you tell the desert is still on my mind?). Much to my surprise, I discovered that Alltop had added me to their Content Marketing lineup, which includes such awesome blogs as Web Ink Now and Copyblogger. Being included on this page is very humbling, and I am very thankful to the folks at Alltop.

I do a lot of work in the packaging industry, and I was honored that JoAnn Hines, the Packaging Diva, included me in her directory of packaging Twitterati, a who’s who list of packaging professionals and packaging industry resources who use Twitter. JoAnn is probably the packaging industry’s most active social media participant and networker, and her Twitter Directory is a valuable listing for anybody who buys, designs, or otherwise deals with packaging materials and equipment. Yes, sometimes the best thing you can do for business is stop working. We all need vacations – especially entrepreneurs who wear so many hats they wear them out. I guess the moral to this little story is, don’t be afraid to take a break.
