Word Sell News Bits - Welcome, Words, and Guest Authors

Welcome, New Visitors!
First of all, welcome new readers who may (or may not) be here as a result of recent and very generous projects conducted by Darren Rowse and Liz Strauss.

If you are new, you can learn about the Word Sell blog here. Here’s a recent post on writing that mixes business and pleasure (something we like to do here). Here’s another recent post about writing blog post headlines, quite a bit more serious and hopefully containing information you can use.

I hope you’ll look around and join the conversation! (As an aside, congratulations to my WordPress developer and collaborator, Lara Kulpa, who is helping out Darren Rowse on his large scale project. I love surrounding myself with genius!)

New Online Dictionary Option

Looking for a robust online dictionary without annoying pop-ups? Try The Free Dictionary. Barbara Rozgonyi and Jeanne Dininni - does it pass muster with you? I think it’s a keeper.

I’m going to need some time off in late August and am looking for guest authors to pinch hit. If you’ve got something to say about online marketing, business copywriting, or writing in general, and can keep it G-rated, please give me a shout!

  1. Seeing as this blog is now mixing with the rich and famous… count me in for a guest post

  2. Joanna, thank you! With your presence we truly will be rich.

  3. Thanks for the mention, Brad. I’ve had fun on every ProBlogger project I’ve managed thus far, you know!

  4. Brad,

Like Joanna, I’d be more than happy to write a guest post for Word Sell in August.

The Free Dictionary looks great–and offers so many extras on its website! (I even won my first game of Hangman when I visited–and without any errors, no less!) All games aside, though, it’s definitely a site to bookmark!

Another great dictionary site is OneLook Dictionary Search. While One Look doesn’t have all the bells and whistles The Free Dictionary has, it does search over 1,000 different dictionaries. It also offers a reverse dictionary and lets you use wildcards.

Thanks for providing another helpful resource for writers!

    Jeanne

  5. Ooops…I seem to have done something very strange with my One Look Dictionary link. It is functional, but certainly not pretty! Is there any way you can fix it, Brad? If so, I sure would appreciate it!

  7. Hi Brad - they’re great projects aren’t they. I’m looking forward to reading the posts you recommended.

  8. Jeanne, linked fixed. One Look is a handy resource - hope people check it out.

    Thanks to stopping by!

  9. Brad,

Thanks for fixing the link! It was a bit embarrassing!

Hope everyone does decide to check out One Look Dictionary Search. It’s really a helpful site! The Free Dictionary is, as well!

    Jeanne

  10. Thanks for asking for my opinion, Brad.
Yes - I recommend the free online dictionary. Also like this subscription-based [$19.95/year] word-mapping tool: http://www.visualthesaurus.com/
