What’s the Best Sales Advice You Ever Got?
When I wrote about the pitfalls of mentoring, it got me thinking, what was the best sales advice I ever got?
I was fortunate to have four incredible mentors in my sales career who were about as opposite as four people could be - one of these days I’m going to write about them and share their unique wisdom. Here are two pieces of advice that have made a difference for me -
On pricing. If the buyer likes you, he will work with you to make your pricing right. If the buyer doesn’t like you, your price will never be right.
On persistence. Never walk away from a sales opportunity thinking you could have done more.
Question
What piece(s) of sales advice have made a difference in your career?

Hi Brad.
You like nice and comfortable on your break a few posts back!
I’ve never been in sales before. I remember reading this one out of The Magic of Thinking Big. I hope I’ve quoted it correctly.
It might seem a little like stating the obvious to marketing professionals, but here goes:
“If you want to persuade John Brown to buy, first you must see through John Brown’s eyes.”
Cheers
Andrew
Excellent advice, Andrew!
Brad, I once heard a mentor say that “effective selling is actually nothing more than helping your customer to buy.”
Simplistic… but it works!
Dan, Simple works every time! I like that advice very much.
